Megan Lorenz A.R.A.D

Megan trained with Juliette Perrey-Perez, Meagan McGratten, and Yvonne Jaspar in Saskatoon, and has been dancing for eighteen years.  She has obtained all of her R.A.D. Children and Vocational Ballet Exams, including the prestigious Advanced II Ballet Exam, with marks of Distinction.  Megan has been invited by the Royal Academy of Dancing to be a guest dancer at the Advanced II workshop in Saskatoon.  She is a recipient of six Juliette’s Dance Centre scholarships for her work in ballet, and has received eight scholarships for her ballet solos at competition.

Megan was accepted multiple times by audition to the professional programs at The Banff Centre for the Arts and The Quinte Ballet School of Canada.  In Banff she was privileged to work with established teachers such as Annette av Paul, David LaHay, Susan Toumine, Maureen Eastick, and Catherine LaFortune, and with Owen Montague, Joanne Nisbet, Kate McCabe, and Penelope Blanco at QBSC.  Megan was invited to join QBSC as a full time student in the professional program, however she decided to return to Saskatoon to finish her training at Juliette’s Dance Centre.

Megan was a dancer with the Contemporary Centennial Dance Ensemble as part of Saskatchewan’s Centennial Gala, working with Shawn Hounsell and Sarah Nolan Downs.  The event was nationally televised and honored by the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  Megan was also a dancer in the Alberta Ballet’s The Nutcracker

For the past two years, Megan danced professionally with Saskatchewan’s only professional ballet company, White Birch Ballet, under the direction of Darlene J. Williams.  During the two seasons she spent with the company, Megan worked with some of Canada’s most esteemed choreographers.  She performed in original works such as Owen Montague’s Just Above, Gioconda Barbuto’s Stand By 4, Constance Cooke’s No Exit and Darlene Williams’ Driven and Autumn Leaves.  She most recently danced the lead in White Birch’s production of Marius Petipa’s Spanish-Russian classical ballet, Paquita.  After completing her B.A. in English with Great Distinction at the University of Saskatchewan, Megan made the difficult decision to retire from professional dance to pursue her acceptance into the College of Law at the U of S.

Megan has been teaching at Juliette’s Dance Centre for five years and has had much success with her students who have done extremely well in both ballet exams and competitions around the province.  Her students have been accepted to professional summer programs at The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, The Alberta Ballet School, and The Goh Ballet.  Megan is deeply honored to pass on her love and knowledge of dance to all of her students.
